Year after year I am consistently disappointed by the poor design of motorsports apparel. Okay, there are a few leagues, teams, brands and fans that do it well, but for the most part, it’s a mess. When will the silhouetted face of a driver pushing through a myriad of colours or non-subtle use of logos splashed across every inch of material fade into the past? It appears that in motorsports apparel, the treasured ‘whitespace’ doesn’t exist.

2011 Edmonton Indy: An Event for the Fans

This afternoon Octane Motorsports (promoters of the Edmonton Indy) released details on the 2011 City Centre Airport track (PDF). After months of anticipation and contract wrangling, they’ve pulled together a track like no other.

Track highlights include:

Length-2.256 miles (2010 was 1.96-miles)
Turns-13 (2010 was 14-turn)
Hairpins-2
Grandstands-6 (with RV parking available along the circuit)
Cars will run counterclockwise

The circuit is expected to present challenges to drivers and provide action for all spectators. There’s a 90-degree first turn, hairpin turns in the northwestern (Turn 5) and southwestern (Turn 13) corners and two long straights. The layout presents huge passing… read more

Big Egos Breeding Big Problems?

After watching the Kentucky race it has become real obvious that Andretti Autosport has some behind the scenes issues going on that are being exposed on the track.

Instead of working together to get to the front they decide to race each other for position and lose valuable time to the leaders. This has happened on numerous occasions this year.
