IndyCar Peak Antifreeze and Motor Oil 300

It was pit strategy that won the race for Dario Franchitti at Chicagoland’s night race this past weekend – a race complete with a record-breaking number of lead changes and a dramatic finish.

Top 3
Dario Franchitti, Dan Wheldon, Marco Andretti

Notable
It was the last pit stop, and Franchitti came in in 9th position. A last-minute decision to only take fuel – no tires – had him leaving pit row in first place. It was a gamble, but the only chance they had to win. The gamble paid off, and Franchitti… read more

Controversy won out at several of the weekend’s races, making some fans excited and wanting more, and others ready to quit watching the sport.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Brickyard 400

It was a hot weekend at the Brickyard this weekend, on a track that is notorious for difficult passing and single-file racing. McMurray was victorious, joining one of racing’s most exclusive clubs.

Top 3
Jamie McMurray, Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle

Notable
With 11 laps left, McMurray passed race leader Kevin Harvick on a restart. McMurray pulled away easily and ended up finishing 1.39 seconds ahead of Harvick.

Wow. There was some really great racing this weekend. It wasn’t a totally packed schedule, but the major action on the track definitely made up for it. Here’s what happened over the weekend:

IndyCar: Honda Indy Toronto

The first of two stops in Canada didn’t disappoint fans. A road course with little room for passing and dangerous cement walls led to a lot of nail-biting passes and heartbreaking crashes.

Top 3
Will Power, Dario Franchitti, Ryan Hunter-Reay

Notable
Local fans got a boost when hometown favourite Paul Tracy lept from 24th to 1st within 18 laps. He led for… read more

Speed Performance Awards

Mad Crashes, Hot Passes and Big Brawls

If you’re like me, you’re already missing the racing action we saw in 2009. The best thing to happen to fans like us? The 2009 Speed Network Performance Awards. That’s right. You must check this out.

Speed has assembled the best moments from 2009 across different racing series (including NASCAR, F1, Indy, MotoGP, NHRA, WRC, ALMS, Supercross, etc.) and they’ve gone beyond run-of-the-mill, yawn-inducing categories like “Best Driver,” and “Best Team,” and have instead brought us the best passes, biggest upsets, best finishes, biggest tempers, best rivalries, biggest oops!, and best comeback.

And the best part? They’ve got videos for… read more
